The Penrose Wharf Business Centre is located in the North West corner of Penrose Wharf, a hub for over a hundred businesses, retail outlets and state and semi-state organisations. It spans two buildings, one which houses the serviced offices of 100 to 3000 sq. ft. and the other which offers larger office space.
A Bit Of History
Penrose Wharf was originally developed by the St George Steam Packet Company in the 1830s. The company’s name changed to the City Of Cork Steam Ship Company and, by the 1870s, some of its operations were split out the Cork Steam Packet Company. Several notable ships were built in the yard including the ‘Sirius’ (the first steam-powered ship to cross the Atlantic). The walls at the front of Penrose Wharf, as well as certain other architectural features, have been carefully retained from this time.
The modern-day Penrose Wharf complex was constructed in 1990, while the Penrose Wharf Business Centre and was constructed in two phases between 1998 and 2001.
